Manchester United
They were the first team that I ever get to know when I learnt about English Premier League, or perhaps football.
They were the team that I love to admire and love to hate.
Admire ? The way they attack when they rule the Premiership. The way that Sir Alex Ferguson built the team brick by brick.
Hate ? The boastfulness of some Man U fans when Man U rules the league. The way that they promote themselves in Asia and fans only know about "Man U ! Man U !" but know nuts of the entire European football scene. The way that they dominates the league, winning back to back titles and give other rivals no chance at all.
Back to those days at Bendemeer, some self-proclaimed Man U fans would like to booast about how much titles Man u had won, how strong their squad is that their reserve side can crash their league opponents, especially after that famous treble that Man U won in 1999.
Where are those fans now ? Are they still showing Man U their support ? I hope they don't switch to Chelski now.
Now ... Old Trafford is no longer the ground that Away teams fear of. Man U is more like a Commercial property after being bought by the Glazers, just like Chelski. Man U no longer have the spending powers that they used to be. They have to struggle to beat Chelski 1-0 last sunday. If they faced the same opponents in the past, they could have dominate the whole 90 minutes instead of getting pressurized after leading.
My hatred for Man U may have lessen much. Despite not being their fan, I do hope that they don't fall to the way that Liverpool did in the early 1990s and Man U themselves in the 1970s.
